For Katie Jenkins it sure is. Katie, a mother from Orlando, Florida is thriving, in the middle of an economic recession working in the comfort of her own home.



"I earn on average about $25 for every link I post on Google and I make around $8,700 a month right now" says Jenkins.



But Katie’s life wasn’t always so prosperous. Her recent employer, a well-known insurance agency, did some downsizing and let her go.

Katie says, “I was in tears one Saturday night because things were getting tough and we couldn’t even afford to take the kids out to dinner like we do every Saturday night. The kids asked why we weren’t going out and we had to try and explain to them that times were tough. I don’t think they understood. That’s when I knew I had to take matters into my own hands and find a solution for my family.”

TM unjur perbelanjaan modal RM3 bilion

Telekom Malaysia Bhd. (TM) mengunjurkan perbelanjaan modal bagi tahun kewangan 2011 meningkat kepada RM3 bilion tahun ini berbanding RM2.71 bilion yang dicatatnya tahun lalu.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Kumpulan TM, Datuk Seri Zamzamzairani Mohd. Isa berkata, peningkatan perbelanjaan modal tahun ini adalah selari dengan pelaksanaan projek jalur lebar berkelajuan tinggi (HSBB).


"Projek HSBB berada pada landasan betul dan kami yakin sasaran 1.1 juta premis dipasang UniFi menjelang akhir tahun 2011 akan dicapai," katanya pada sidang media mengumumkan prestasi kewangan 2010 kumpulan tersebut di sini hari ini.

TM mencatat keuntungan bersih dan kepentingan minoriti (PATAMI) sebanyak RM1.206 bilion bagi tahun kewangan berakhir 31 Disember 2011, meningkat 87.6 peratus berbanding RM643 juta yang dicatatnya tahun lalu.

Menurut Zamzamzairani, prestasi cemerlang itu dicapai menerusi peningkatan hasil keseluruhan berserta pengurusan kos terbaik.

Ia juga disumbang oleh pelupusan pelaburan bukan teras dan tukaran asing. Kumpulan itu merekodkan perolehan sebanyak RM8.791 bilion, meningkat 2.1 peratus berbanding RM8.608 bilion bagi tempoh sama tahun lalu.

Tambah Zamzamzairani, kedudukan pasaran TM kekal kukuh biarpun di dalam iklim ekonomi yang mencabar dan persaingan yang sengit.

Prestasi tahun 2010 melonjak didorong perolehan data yang berkembang 15.4 peratus kepada RM1.754 bilion berbanding RM1.52 bilion sebelumnya, disokong oleh oleh peningkatan permintaan perkhidmatan jalur lebar.

Perolehan Internet juga meningkat 5.9 peratus kepada RM1.65 bilion berbanding RM1.56 bilion tahun lalu.

"Perkembangan ini sangat mengujakan, malah UniFi telah berjaya diberikan kepada 48 kawasan ibu sawat dengan 33,000 pelanggan, hanya 10 bulan dilancarkan," ujar beliau lagi.

Tambah beliau, dengan prestasi cemerlang itu, TM akan membayar dividen sebanyak 29 sen sesaham kepada pemegang sahamnya menerusi peruntukan berjumlah RM1.037 bilion.

Bagi prestasi kewangan suku terakhir 2010, TM mencatat PATAMI RM400.7 juta, meningkat 135.4 peratus berbanding RM170.2 juta yang dicatatnya bagi tempoh yang sama tahun lalu.



Sikap penentu perubahan

Ape saja perubahan yang ingin kita laksanakan banyak bergantung kepada faktor sikap. Sikap ialah kehendak dalaman yang digambarkan melalui amalan terhadap tindakan kita sendiri. Kehendak pula dipengaruhi oleh pelbagai faktor lain seperti persekitaran, personal, ilmu dan kemahiran serta aras motivasi diri dalam melaksanakan tugas.

Tindakan adalah sesuatu yang bersifat sementara. Tindakan mungkin berlaku disebabkan adanya tekanan dari luar seperti arahan atau peraturan. Sedangkan amalan ialah tindakan yang terlazim yang dibentuk tanpa bergantung pada tekanan dan ianya dilakukan secara konsisten dan berterusan. Pembentukan sikap akan mengambil masa yang agak panjang untuk membentuk amalan.
